PLANNED STUDENT PROTEST IN FORT SMITH MIGHT BE DERAILED BY SCHOOL DISTRICT

STUDENT ACROSS THE U.S. ARE ENGAGING IN PROTESTS FOR FOR TIGHTER GUN CONTROL

According to a report by Today in Fort Smith, a  "March For Our Lives "event set for March 24th in support of the nationwide demonstrations for the "March For Our Lives" movement is being advertised as scheduled at Fort Smith Northside High School,  but such an event is seemingly in violation of a policy set forth by the Fort Smith School Board in late July of 2015.

Today in Fort Smith was first made aware of the proposed event when a flyer was forwarded to them from a post on the Facebook page of a Sebastian County Democratic organization.

As Today in Fort Smith points out, if the event is being held on school property or utilizing school facilities, it would seemingly be in direct violation of a policy put in place in July of 2015 in which the school board voted 5-2 in favor of updated requirements governing the community’s use of school facilities

That update added a “viewpoint neutral” requirement on non school-related events.
